Empowering our youth

Programs

4. SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

There are so many social and community crises and issues that need our response as young people. Among the many issues that demand action are: -

i. Children issues such as child abuse, child labour, children rights etc.
ii. Gender issues such as women rights, rape gender discrimination, violence against women etc.
iii. Human right issues such as police brutality, discrimination, violence, democracy, domestic violence etc.
iv. Disability issues.

TAG – Kenya has a program that responds to all these needs and issues by raising awareness through advocacy, campaigns, seminars, workshops and grass root training for community-based organizations.

As we carried out our daily activities as an organization, many people, especially young girls below the age of 18 came to us seeking help on social injustices that they were facing. Many came reporting cases of rape, fear of genital mutilation, domestic violence, child abuse and neglection, forced early marriages, oppression, police brutality and torture etc.

With this kind of complains increasing day after day, it became evident that, we as a friendly organization need not only to listen to these complains and injustices, but also act accordingly and save our brothers and sisters from these social injustices.

As a result, a program on human rights and gender empowerment was set to address these crises. The program focuses on creating awareness on human right issues, collect and disseminate information on human rights and gender issues, human rights advocacy, community training on human rights related issues, disseminate human rights information by use of audiovisuals, posters, literature materials etc.
